We're still reeling from the concert we held in Southwark on 6 July. The final line up of talent was:
Uma Bunnag - singer/composer
Lyds - performance poet
Tosin - singer/composer
Abdul - singer/tambura player
Kathryn O'Reilly - poet
Lucy Lu - led by Luke Bower on guitar and vocals
Makers - led by Michael Fox on keyboards and vocals
and Alice Zawadzki - singer/violinist/composer, with ace guitarist Rob Luft
It was hot in London that night, but no one complained because we were all distracted by the highest quality music and performance. Packed into the intimate Platform space was a cheery crowd of artistes, music-lovers and Mercy Centre friends. Usanee and Ratana, who were visiting the UK from Mercy Centre Bangkok, spoke of their work and also supervised the preparation of an authentic Thai green curry.
Helen Fanyinka from the Doris Field Charitable Trust presents a cheque to MCUK trustee Ellie, and MCUK treasurer Bill.
Fine entertainment apart, the high spot of the night was the appearance of a large cheque (£2,500) from the Doris Field Charitable Trust who had chosen Mercy Centre UK as one of its beneficiaries for 2017.
Everyone who took part made it an extraordinary evening, and everyone who watched agreed we must do it again. Thank you to everyone for a memorable and generous night.
